Tournaments.
Each year we receive invitations to participate in local, Interstate and international tournaments.
The local tournaments are run by the Traditional Karate Federation, in which Haughey Sensei was a founding member. They are usually held at the Boondall Entertainment Centre. These are held regularly throughout the year.
The Japanese Karate Federation Goju Kai Australian National Championships are held all over Australia. These occur once per year.

We are invited to Japan each year for the Japanese National Championships.

Students who dedicate themselves to their training maybe eligible to make the Australian team and represent their country in the Japanese Karate Federation Goju Kai World Championships, which are held all over the world.

All practitioners are welcome to participate in what promises to be a very exciting, and highly anticipated tournaments.
We would like to invite everyone to take part in what will truly be Championships of Fellowship and Friendship.

Demonstrations:

AGKK supports the community by participating in karate demonstrations. This allows people in the local community to gain a insight in a traditional martial art and gives karate students an opportunity to participate if they so wish and gain some confidence and improve their skills.

Karate is one such form of martial art which makes a person physically strong and mentally stable, improves one's concentration ability and disciplines him/her. This is the same intention with which demonstrations of Karate are organized for the students of AGKK.

There is a code usually recited by the students who perform in the demonstrations, which speaks for the values and importance of martial arts training: -

"We will train our bodies and mind for a firm unshaken spirit. We will respect our parents, teachers and elders. We will always practice courtesy and patience. We will always keep the fighting spirit of Karate. We will refrain from violence and will not misuse knowledge of Karate. We will aim for the perfection of character. All our life by the study of Karate, we will understand the true meaning of life."

Australian Goju Kai Karate Hosts World Karate Champion from Germany
German World Goju Kai Champion, ‘Hagen Neumann’, from Kirschau, Germany, was proudly invited by Bernie Haughey, AGKK Chief Instructor, to visit Australian Goju Kai Karate in Queensland, Australia.

While on official visit Down Under, Hagen stayed with Bernie’s family for four days. During this time, Bernie and

Hagen trained together regularly, sharing a combined wealth of knowledge in advanced karate techniques.
Hagen, an elite athlete, trains seven days a week for between two to three hours each day. He recently won one first place in fighting at the 2002 Australian Japanese Goju Kai Karate Championships, held in March and in 2001 he won the Karate World Championships.

“Hagen is physically a mountain of a man; you can sense his strength and positive energy,” Bernie Haughey commented.

“Hagen is very humble and very approachable. Many students were able to approach Hagen and introduce themselves, sensing Hagen’s friendliness and approachability. His visit to the Club was a real treat for the children.”

Students from Australian Goju Kai Karate were privileged to have witnessed Hagen perform the highest Kata in Karate, the “Suparainpei”, which contains 108 individual movements of attack and defence.
