Karate Pilgrimage to Japan

Bernie Haughey Sensei recently traveled to beautiful and historic Japan to visit and further his martial arts knowledge with four Karate Masters, with special guidance from the world renown karate master - Tasaki Shihan 8TH Dan.
Tasaki Shihan is a living legend he is respected in the martial arts arena as an expert and even though he is a humble man he is feared for his fighting abilities.
Years ago he was attacked by the Japanese mafia – the Yakuza, even though many of his attackers used knifes he was still able to emobilise them with his karate skills. By application Goju Kai Karate as a self defence is without equal.

Japan is as expensive place to live and to train but it was well worth the effort.
I trained for six hours each day and three hours each night.
Starting in Tokyo I then traveled north to Akita, Omagari, and then traveling south to Takamatsu, returning via Narita.
Chief instructors from Canada, South Africa, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Germany, Bangladesh, America, India, Slovakia and England participated in this masters training pilgrimage – with this group of men we all live and breathe karate and apply karate to everyday living.

The Japanese culture emulates respect, courtesy and purpose in life.
I am so proud to pass this knowledge onto Women, Men and Children and to witness such a positive change authentic karate makes to their lives.

Bernie Haughey the Chief instructor for Australian Goju Kai Karate teaches this authentic traditional martial art to many people in Brisbane.
It is very rewarding and inspirational to see many people who take up Goju Kai Karate renew themselves and families with a definite purpose in life. For example, children who participate in my karate classes recognize the key values that we teach such as respect, courtesy, self discipline, confidence and apply these core values and good behaviour at home and at school. Many parents have commented to me saying traditional karate is the best gift they have given themselves and their child or children.
